The Name

Honest.
Helpful.
High quality.

HHH are our core values – Honest. Helpful. High quality.  It is also the initials of the founder’s Grandfather Herb (Howard Herbert Hoover), who introduced Matt to engineering.  Herb was a civil engineer who wrapped up his career as the head of the roads department in American Samoa.  Herb’s distance cousin was President Herbert Hoover, also a civil engineer, who is the namesake of the engineering marvel Hoover Dam.

Grandpa Herb taught Matt about bridge design and  tension/compression members.  In high school, Matt entered a “65 popsicle stick bridge contest” – design a bridge from 65 popsicle sticks (and glue) to span a gap of 300 mm.  Matt’s truss bridge design held 240kg and took 1st place.
